IBM MQ Messaging | IBM Integration Practice

Enterprise messaging & queuing

IBM MQ Messaging

Never lose a message. Secure, reliable, exactly-once delivery between applications, systems and clouds — so every transaction arrives once, and only once.

  • Exactly-once delivery
  • End-to-end encryption
  • Native high availability
Assured delivery

Every message counts. Every time.

MQ is the trusted backbone that moves payments, orders and events between the systems your business can't afford to have fail.

IBM MQ connects applications dynamically, securely and reliably, so businesses can build message-driven and event-driven applications at scale. It decouples systems through queues, coordinates transactions across resources and delivers each message exactly once — even when networks, servers or whole regions fail.

MQ runs on premises, in containers and in any cloud, from distributed servers to IBM z/OS. As an IBM Silver Business Partner and integration specialist, NetCreativeMind designs, upgrades, secures and supports MQ estates — alongside App Connect, DataPower and Cloud Pak for Integration.

  • OnceExactly-once, transactional message delivery

Trusted where every message matters

Reliability, security and real-time coordination sit at the heart of these industries — and MQ is built for exactly that.

  • Banking & FinanceAssured payments and complete data for fraud checks.
  • GovernmentSecure data exchange across departments.
  • Travel & TransportFares, bookings and loyalty data in sync.
  • ManufacturingFault-tolerant links between equipment and inventory.

Key Capabilities

Get the message across — securely, reliably and at any scale, wherever your applications run.

Complete Transactional Delivery

MQ coordinates multiple resources in a single transaction, decouples applications through local queues and manages communication across networks — so data stays consistent and every message is delivered exactly once, never duplicated or lost.

How IBM MQ Works

Applications hand messages to MQ and get on with their work — MQ makes sure they arrive.

  1. Send

An application puts a message on a queue — no need for the receiver to be online.

  2. Queue & route

Queue managers store and route messages securely across networks, clouds and platforms.

  3. Protect & replicate

Transactions, encryption and replication keep every message safe through any failure.

  4. Deliver once

The receiving system gets each message exactly once — in the right order, when it's ready.

Business continuity

Keep transactions flowing, whatever fails

The difference between hoping a call gets through and knowing every message arrives.

Without messaging

Direct point-to-point calls

  • One system down means requests are lost
  • Retries create duplicate payments and orders
  • Tightly coupled apps that are hard to change
  • Traffic spikes overwhelm back-end systems
  • Sensitive data exposed between hops
With IBM MQ

Assured messaging

  • Messages wait safely until the receiver is ready
  • Exactly-once delivery — no duplicates
  • Decoupled apps you can change independently
  • Queues absorb peaks and smooth the load
  • End-to-end encryption in flight and at rest

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about IBM MQ and how we help teams run it.

Have a different question? Ask our MQ team
What is IBM MQ?

IBM MQ is enterprise messaging middleware. Applications exchange information by placing messages on queues, and MQ guarantees secure, exactly-once delivery — even if a system, network or data centre fails.

How is MQ different from Kafka?

MQ is built for assured, transactional delivery of individual messages such as payments and orders. Kafka is designed for streaming and replaying large volumes of events. Many organisations use both, and IBM's MQ source and sink connectors move data between them with exactly-once delivery.

What is the difference between MQ and MQ Advanced?

MQ Advanced adds capabilities such as Native HA, cross-region replication, managed file transfer and advanced message security. We help you choose the right edition — and only pay for what you need.

Can MQ run in containers and the cloud?

Yes. MQ runs on premises, on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes, in public and private clouds, as a physical appliance, on IBM z/OS, and as a SaaS service.

How does MQ make sure messages are never lost?

Messages are stored persistently and moved within transactions, so they survive restarts and network failures. Native HA keeps replicas of each queue manager ready to take over, and cross-region replication protects against the loss of a whole site.

Can you upgrade and support our existing MQ estate?

Yes. MQ is a core part of our IBM integration practice. We handle health checks, version upgrades, migrations to containers and 24x7 managed support for existing queue managers.
